dear JNU - 3

Dear JNU,

The Wall art, the posters and the Graffiti all around the campus always fascinated me. All the messages were loud and clear, and of course beautiful to the core. I often saw students painting these huge posters which were spread on the ground and next day saw them pasted on the walls. JNU walls were always magical. So many times I saw foreigners visiting our campus to click pictures of birds, animals, walls, roads and the campus in general and I felt so proud.

I remember when I joined JNU, I hardly could participate in conversations. I was from an Economics background, that too from Delhi University, where discussions were only about how to mass bunk or get our test postponed. JNU was a different world altogether. It took me a while to understand feminism, Marxism, hegemony, discourses, etc. In the real sense. It took me longer to understand what right, left and centre really meant in the field of academics.

But as time passed I realized that such Beautiful discussions were a part of the every day life of JNU. You could never overhear a non sensical conversation in JNU, be it Ganga Dhaaba of 24*7, Tapti Chai Tapri or School Canteens. Every other time there was a discussion that was worth overhearing. Haha. Yeah.

Sometimes they were non sensical too though, coz these were only two times, one when it was about conversations between friends about their plans / relationships etc. And two when some times it was about Politics.

Coming to Politics, I am one of those students who never participated in any of the Dharnas or Campaigns except for two, against students being labelled as Anti Nationals being first and second being the one against what happened on 05/01/20. The only two times I participated in a JNU protest was to save my campus, because only students who study here or have studied here know the worth of its very culture.

JNU, you are a beautiful little town in my city which always felt like my favorite vacation spot. As I entered your gate, I felt that I left Delhi behind. I felt safer, happier and at home. I have no idea when my hostel rooms became my second home, you became my favorite place to be and my passion became my career. Thank you for everything.
This was my third to you JNU ♥️ I love you !
