5 Reasons to Watch 'Naam Shabana'

5 Reasons to Watch 'Naam Shabana'

1. Realistic story-line and the first of its kind - The entire journey of the Indian National Defence Agency (RAW) constructing a 'spy' out of a normal woman is a catch and the best part of the film. This is the first film which showcases the making of a woman spy and also it's the first Bollywood prequel film. The film's entire plot has been set up in a very justified manner. The characters and situations are very relatable. The story of the film revolves around one character - Shabana, but it is similar to the story of every other girl, the challenges that they face every other day, but what is different about this woman is the way she deals with these situations, how she faces them and how she overcomes her weaknesses.

2. Social issues dealt well: Corruption, gender inequality, women empowerment, etc. and other social issues have been touched with sensitivity and maturity. The need for self defence classes for men and women both has been well defined in the film. It is a family entertainer because it doesn't let you do or think anything else as it keeps you engrossed. It is another well made woman-centric film that shouldn't be missed.

3. Taaspsee Pannu's versatile acting and Neeraj Pandey's Direction : Taapsee proved her talent in many films like Pink, Baby, The Ghazi Attack and many other Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, but those films, esp. Hindi films have mostly been multi - starrers. This film has been majorly dealing with her character. Whereas some big and senior actors (Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Danny etc.) have given supporting roles or extended cameos in this film. Taapsee Pannu has justified her role and has acted brilliantly and has given some amazing action sequences. Not to miss the very talented Manoj Bajpai who has acted really well in the film. Neeraj Pandey is a commendable filmmaker and his films are generally a treat for the audience (Special 26, Rustam, Baby, M.S. Dhoni, A Wednesday etc.) His films have always been loved by the audience, hence, don't miss it!

4. Prequel to the brilliant film 'Baby': This film is the first of it's  kind, as it's the first film of Bollywood which is a prequel, a spin off. The super success of 'Baby' inspired the filmmakers to make another part of it. The film has been defined very smartly as a prequel to the already released 2015 film, 'Baby'. The film though has been released two years later with the timeline before Baby. Thus, factors like usage of old Sony phones has been kept in mind to create a realistic image of the characters. The mission in this film is as intense as that in 'Baby' and also has mentions about the 'Baby' mission, which is very interesting to note.

5. Some nice songs: the film has one beautiful romantic song by none other than Shreya Ghoshal - 'Rozana'; an inspirational song by Sunidhi Chauhan - 'Zinda'; a remake of the classic song by Rochak Kohli - 'Zubi Zubi' and a fun track by Meet Bros - 'Baby Besharam'. The songs are not exaggerated in the film or generally. They are nicely themed and structured. Must listen ' Rozana ' !
